Abstract:
Employer and employee, both parties should be actively contributed for avoiding health and safety issues. But in Most cases people tend to see this issue through one angle. Laws, acts and other standards stress employers to follow up these things. But it is very hard to see any action, rule or standard express to employees to promote their participation. Therefore through this research it is expected to look in to this side of the issue. Therefore this research will be conducted with the intention of evaluating "the occupational health and safety implications in a chemical manufacturing factory and employees' compliance". The main aim of this research is to the analyzing the employees' participation, compliance and factors which lead to employees' to neglect occupational health and safety implications. The population of the whole research was factory workers of the registered public chemical manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka. Samples of 100 factory workers were selected, with proportionate base from seven companies from public chemical manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka. Key findings of research show that employee compliance of health and safety factors, that averagely awareness, knowledge, attitude dimensions were almost agreed with for neglect health and safety implication.
